Rectifying “The name in the end tag...” Error Message

Microsoft Word documents can be easily copied and pasted from your system to any storage media like CD, DVD, USB drives, and more. This allows the user to always carry an updated document in the above storage media. The user can also open, modify, print the updated document by connecting that media with any computer. While copying the MS Word documents provides numerous advantages, it can also be a cause of corruption of a document. Corruption in such cases most likely occurs due to improper shutdown of the system while the document was being edited by the user, virus infection, and more. In such cases, the data saved in a MS Word document becomes inaccessible as the user only views an error message whenever s/he tries to open the document. The user can easily surmount such situations if s/he has taken a backup of that document. However, if no backup is taken, then the user needs to use an effective Word Repair software to repair the document.

Consider a realistic situation, where you create a Word document and save the same in a USB drive to print that document using a different computer (connected to the printer). However, when you attach that USB drive to the computer and attempt to open the document, you receive the below error message:

“This office open XML file "title.docx" cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents”

Further, when you click the details button, you view the below error message:

“The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 18027”

The error message does not allow you to access the data saved in the document.

Resolution:
To resolve the above error message and to access the Word document, you will need to repair the document using 'Open and Repair' option. While the option repairs the document in almost all cases, there are some situations where the option fails to repair the document. For such scenarios, you will need to use an effective third-party Word Repair application. Such tools can Repair Word File in just few mouse clicks, irrespective of their cause of damage.
